At the Ghana Mining Week 2022, Veolia Ghana has received the award of Best Water Treatment Company from Forbes Monaco, the official partner of the Ghana Gold Expo, and Aurum Global Partners on Conservation Mine and Reclamation Award 2022.
The Ghana Mining Week, under the High Patronage of the Western Regional Coordinating Council, Ministry of Land and Natural Resources, and partners has been created in response to adopting the evolving government policies in minerals resources, boosting the interest of investors and promoting responsible and safe mining.
The theme for the mining week this year was “THE POTENTIAL OF MINING FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT". The scope of the Mining Policy session was to look into Minimise site intervention with unique mapping & monitoring solutions based on global standards, environmental management, checks, impact, transparency, cost, and sustainability in a large-scale operation.
At the end of the session, the panel discussed; Mine tailing Storage technology, Standard, regulations, and tailings management, Preparedness in event of Tailing dam future failure, Cost impact & Public disclosure to impact Public accountability.
Mr. Laurent Piat, the Managing Director of Veolia Ghana was a speaker on the panel to showcase Innovative water treatment solutions for mine water, including groundwater, process water, acid mine drainage, pit water, and tailings for reuse or discharge.
Veolia has been able to position itself as an environmental leader and reduce its impact on the environment, at the same time as supporting its growth and its advances in new water treatment technologies.
